Question:

Will my SAT scores match up with my ACT?

I looked at a score conversion chart and saw that my 1980 mostly equaled a 30 on the ACT. And though my national score percentile was 89% in the SAT it would be 96% on the ACT if I received an equivalent score.

Since I usually score equally in all sections (SAT 660, 660, and 660), are the chances good that I'll get a 30 on the ACT or will I probably do worse and remain in the same percentile as my SAT?

thanks

  1. This is a question that doesn't have the same answer for everyone.  You'll most likely get something in between the 30 on the ACT and whatever ACT score the 89th percentile happens to be.  So, maybe around a 28?  But nothing's for sure, and everyone is different.  My ACT score, 36, is higher than the matchup for my SAT score, 2360.  The ACT score that matches my SAT score is a 35.  However, my percentiles matched up (both were 99%).  Weird, huh?

  2. This is a difficult question to answer. Some people do way better on the ACT than the SAT and others the other way around. One of my friends got a 2150 on the SAT, but a 35 on the ACT--so obviously you can score a lot better on the ACT. I'd say you'd stay about the same, and I wouldn't worry too much about it-you're SAT score is strong for most places

    Hope this helps.
