I will be going to Mexico for about 48 hours so it is my understanding I do need a visa. Will my passport be stamped going into Mexico or when I return. I would prefer it not to be.

  1. You do Not need a passport to go by land.  Photo I.D. and birth certificate.

They would not stamp it going to your home country--Whats the point?

You passport is stamped by countries you visit.

If you are going to a bordertown you only have to worry about what your immigration needs .

If you are flying then you will get a stamp from Mexico

  2. If you are not going beyond the border zone, then no.  However, if you do, sometimes they stamp and sometimes they don't.

  3. It will be stamped when you arrive in Mexico and when you arrive back into the USA. This is the legal way to travel...

You will be given a temporary Visa for your visit.

  4. Where are you going.  In Baja and most of Sonora they won't even look at you unless you stop.  If you stay in the border zone anywhere it will be the same

  5. probably not

  6. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't.  The whole purpose of passports is to be able to track what countries people have visited.  Regardless of how long your staying if your visiting another country outside of the US and use your passport they are going to stamp it.
