Question:

Will my acne footprints fade?

After I get a pimple the red mark stays on my skin forever. The dermatologist told me they were called footprints and that they will fade. But I'm worried that they won't. It's not even just the bad ones that cause them it's every one. Does anyone else have this problem?

  1. Yes, although sometimes it will take quite a while.  I had really bad acne in High School.  Even on my back and chest.  Anyway, the worst one I had was right in the middle of my chest.  It took about 4 years to completely go away.  They are basically bruises from the skin being inflamed around the infected pore.  The less you squeeze or mess with the pimples, the less intense the footprint will be from the start.  Exfoliating does help.  Time is the real answer though.  Try eating more foods with vitamin A like oily fish, fruits and vegetables.  Or find a really good natural source vitamin A supplement.  Vitamins A and D, as well as zinc, play strong roles in skin health and resilience.

  2. mine do after a while but i just cover them up in the mean time

  3. yeaahhhh! i get them all the time. my derma told me theyd fade too.

but there still on my face after like 3 months!

ive had one for 4 months!

it seems like they will never go away and it looks like i still have acne!

    heelp!

  4. Yes.

It fades away after a awhile.

  5. If you use a facial wash that exfoliates, you will find that the marks will fade faster. I have had this problem with marks left on my face and using St. Ives scrub has helped bc exfoliation gets rid of the dead skin cells. Good luck!
