  1. Power is going to increase on a logarithmic scale in relation to volume. To double the volume you need 10 times the power.

A single watt can produce nice listening levels. To get a little bit louder you need hundreds of more watts.

  2. Yes, the louder you play sounds, the more power your speakers will consume. Increasing the sound level by 3dB requires the power to increase by a factor of 2. Increasing 10dB requires the power to increase by a factor of 10.

For example, assuming your speakers can handle the power, if you increase the power output of your amplifier from 20W to 40W, the sound will increase by 3dB. If you increase from 20W to 200W, it will increase by 10dB.

  3. Speakers don't use alot of energy and whether it is on hi or lo don't make a diffrence for the most part it will be the same amount of eneregy

  4. Yes, an audio amplifier power supply it depends on the load (Volume) driven by the output of the speaker. On loud sound...more power is dissipated in speaker. At low volume of sound..less power is dissipated.

  5. what ever it is it will consume very less amount of power whether it low or high so doesnt matter.
