Will my bamboo ever get bigger?

Question

I've had a small bamboo plant for about 3 months. I got it from WalMart and I don't think it's getting any bigger.

Is it supposed to?

It's in a little plastic cup thing I bought it in.

How can I help it grow?

If you got the plant in Walmart it is probably not real bamboo.  the wild Bamboo is really a type of  grass plant that grows as tall as trees.  Plant it in a shaded spot and make sure that it gets plenty of water to start out.  Then watch it grow.

If you plant bamboo outside it takes off & grows to be taller than a person & spreads like crazy.  Maybe the pot is too small.

Is this lucky bamboo (not a real bamboo, but named bamboo)n or a real bamboo plant. Real bamboo will take off and grow huge in a short time. I would repot it in rich soil If you want it big. If it is Lucky Bamboo, give it some luquid fertilizer.

If its lucky bamboo(draceana) then the best thing you can do is plant it in a loose soil in a pot outside where you get a lot of SUN, and ensure it stays above 55degrees. You can also plant it and it does grow darker in soil, in a pot by a lighted window.
