Will my bank charge me an extra fee when a check is made to someone in a foreign country?

I want to send some money to relatives oversea, and wonder what's the cheapest way to do it.

Your bank wouldn't charge you however, your relatives would likely pay a lot to have the check cleared through their account.  

If you had mentioned where your relatives are, it would help give a better answer.  I found international money orders listed at the US Post office website and they are only $3.85 - a great bargain.  Check here to see if their country is listed:

You could also check Western Union fees.  I'm pretty sure they are more expensive but it would definitely cost your relatives less and be quicker.  http://www.westernunion.com/
