  1. no.....

  2. No.  Most viruses are species specific.  While there are some viruses that can affect a range of species, most cannot.  However this doesn't mean that your bird cannot pick up any bacteria you may be harboring on your hands or in that tissue so you should wash your hands before handling your bird.

    Hope this helps!

  3. I was told to stay away  from my birds when i was sick. How do you do that, someone has to look after them. I try not to handle them as much.but if your birds are as spoiled as mine, you won't be staying away to much. My parrots are 27 and 30 yrs. and never caught anything from me yet. Well maybe my dinner!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Human flu and bird flu are different, so unless it's the bird flu that was going around a few years ago, I highly doubt that your bird will catch it

  5. LIke several people have already said, it is a misnomer that Birds can catch the flu from their owners. But, if you're sick, it's better to stay away from them, until you feel better. Hope this helps. I have 25 years experience with Birds, so I've seen just about everything. My husband and I take unwanted Birds in, that other people can't take care of anymore. We kind of run a retirement home for Birds. We used to have over 30 birds, but had to cut back, when I got sick with Bird keepers lung, which is a real disease.

  6. Well, you should generally stay away from your bird with the flu.

  7. NO, it wont,

  8. I had a vet tell me you can get sick from a sick bird ,but not sure the other way around . Check with a vet that deals with birds.
