my mum normally puts my budgies cage outside when it is sunny and she did that today like normal. Then at about 2:00pm there was a bang and my budgies cage was on the floor and they were gone. I had two budgies. One was a girl- Bluey and the other ws a boy - Fluffy. i could hear them but i couldnt see them as there were many trees. There is a park on my road i am scared they might of gone there. i am heartbroken as they were the best budgies ever.

will they come back?? i put the cage in the garden with there food and everything. please help!!!

  1. im not sure hun when my budgie flew away i put hes cage outside where normally we put it, i kept calling hes name over and over every 10 mins, and i left hes door open just in case he does come back.. but he never did and it was the worst feeling ever. i was scared to sleep at night worrying about him if hes hungry or cold.. but eventually u get over it and think that hes in a better place or that he found another home. i went out and bought me 2 other parakeets and it made it much easier but i still think about him and every time i drive through my neighborhood i look for him.

    GOOD LUCK HUN

i know what ur going through.. im sorry!

  2. They will most likely not come back! They are free now! !

  3. Hi,

It is highly unlikely that they will come back, i have never heard of it happenening to anyone before so sorry.

  4. I don't think they'll come back if they're not hand-trained. My Zebra Finches flew away, and only one came back. because we put out the cage, like you did. but, the other one never returned.

If Fluffy doesn't come back, Bluey won't either, becuz fluffy was Bluey's mate. But, if Flufy does come back, Bluey will come too.

    Hope I could've helped.

  5. No they will not come back, that is why you have them clipped.Did you know when you sit birds out you should put a screen around their cage, did you ever get stung by a bee.

  6. well from the word Budgie i have to assume your in the UK,, weather is good so thats not a problem,, you've done what you can with the cage as a lure, good thinking,, they wont go that far and they know you so go and look for them if your lucky you'll see them and be able to have them come to you when they're close,, my first parakeet came to me when my brother caught it by simply lifting his finger to it when he'd seen it in a tree outside and it jumped right on, so ask around, put up a flyer or 10 and maybe you'll get lucky

funny story,, my mother has a McCaw and it escaped one fine afternoon,, the police brought her back that evening after finding her by the side of the road(small town USA),,  good luck and i wish you the best:)

  7. It is very doubtful if they will directly come back, however they may get exhausted from flying since they are new to the wide open space to fly and they can also fall victim to  the other wild birds. Many people think that if you leave their cage outside that the bird would come back, this isnt always true because unlike Pigeons Parakeets do not have the homing instinct since they have never been trained to return home.

My recommendation is to post an ad in your local newspaper to see if anyone may have found them, and hopefully would be kind enough to return them to you. Also put out flyer's in your local neighborhood in case someone close to you may have seen them.

  8. Try putting the cage where you normally set it. Because budgies normally come back to their house. I might also suggest clipping their wings. They should come back tho.
