It's a 99 Honda Civic Lx in good condition, about 150,000 miles. I assume it is probably worth about 5,000. I was in a hit and run accident at an intersection and I was just wondering if any knowledgeable person could tell me if they think it will be totalled or not. Thanks!!

  1. Yes it is.

  2. I WOULD THINK SO LOOKS PRETTY BAD MISS SAMSKI HOPE U R OK

  3. Well looks like the back wheel is bent. That is usually a good sign the car will be considered totaled. Actually one of the better things would be if you had pictures from the underside, but I'm guessing the frame is bent. I'm guessing this based on my mother's car that was recently hit and didn't even look that bad. Just looked kinda dented in the trunk and a bit of a hole in like the back bumper, but the frame was bent and it is considered totaled. She had a newer Civic so good comparison, and with a bent wheel good chance you have a bent frame and a totaled car.

  4. yea you just have to look at it to see that its totaled lol the whole back is messed up ^_^

  5. awww thts a big accident, your is wrecked basically and is a total right off,so you will get the full payment for the car.......

  6. That car is definately totaled. The unibody is bent in by the rear door. It would be totalled if it was new, and this is a car that has 150k miles on it.

Start shopping for a new one.

  7. Poor Sammi.  Your car will be totally done for sure.  The way the insurance works is like this:  If the damage on the car is more than 70% of the value of the car, it will be totalled because it's not worth it to the company to pay out.  I think it's an ever lower percentage for older cars.  Your car's damage is well over the 70%.  I have a 96 Accord with 177,000 in excellent running condition.  I worry about this happening all the time b/c I'm not ready to let it go.

  8. I'm not knowledgeable but yeah I would say definitely.  Lots of damaged panels, and the door, the rear suspension and probably a bent chassis.

    Not economically repairable.

  9. Probably.  I had a similar experience last December when someone ran through a stop sign.  I saw them coming and tried to get out of the way but they slammed into the front driver's side of my work van. It was the same kind of damage only to the front and the insurance company said it was totaled.  There is a "salvage" option but no one could clearly explain how it works as it is a fairly new thing in this state. I'm sorry you're going through this.  It's terrible that the other driver took off and I do hope the he/she is apprehended.

  10. 1. the age will hurt you.

    2. the mileage will hurt you.

    3. the amount of rear damage alone will hurt you.

    4. yes it is totaled out....

  11. Yeah, that looks bad...
