some places won't insure me on my new tigra sport until I'm 21.

So the place that has insured me, will my premium be reduced after I'm 21? Is being 21 under a different catogory or something?

  1. No.  I think the "magic" age is 25 for males and sometimes 21 for females but each insurance company has their own rules about this.

  2. Well .... as far as insurance goes ... the cost is based on liability.

21 is when you're legally allowed to drink. Wouldn't make much sense to lower your insurance at this age.  At this age you are considered [more of ] an adult so this may be why the insurance company you are looking at will insure you when you hit 21.

Shop around ... there are a lot of companies out there that will insure. I started with State Farm and they tend to be one of the harder companies to get insurance from (luckily I had no reason for them not to insure me)

If you meet the requirements (parents are military or current members) try to get USAA

  3. it all depend on how long you had your driving license and whether you have full coverage on your vehicle. the rates for libality is set by the state, and your c/c premium by the underwritter of the insurance company

  4. no, the earliest you can get any reduction in price is at least 25

  5. Several factors come into play on premium reduction.

One of which is age, both for  you and the car you drive.

Another is driving record, not just yours  but everyone that lives in your area, those that drive similar cars and those of the same age as you. The crime rate also is taken  into consideration (stolen cars)

So you might see a reduction, but the biggest comes at age 25.

But it might be wise to shop around and see what you  can get from a different company.

  6. Their is not enough information to answer that question.  Several factors come into play state regulations, insurance company and male or female.  In the past the adult classification for insurance was 25 for males and 21 for females.  During this time the majority of insurance policy were regulated by the state.  However, recently a lot of insurance companys have changed their policies to County mutual policys.  This has changed all of the classifications and age breaks at 21 and 25 are minimal at best.  In the past when you reached 21 or 25 your insurance almost dropped in half.  Once again the good old days are gone.
