Will my cat ever accept new animals?

My cat, d**n-it, doesn't seem to lke other animals. My other cat, BeBe, and him get along but BeBe was with him the day d**n-it was born. We got a dog, and eventually he learned to tolerate it, but that was it.

He does the same with cats. He tolerates them. But he doesn't want any interacton with them. He also goes into this frenzy of rubbing up against doorways, clawing his furnture and sneaking around. Hides in his room (yes, he has his own room) a lot as well.

Is BeBe the only animal he'll ever really get along with?

  1. I have a cat too that does not like other animals that much, i rescued another cat, who's male and 1, but she hisses and he chases her, eventually your cat will learn to get along, it may feel insecure and left out even if you spent allot of time with it. Try, if it hasn't all ready, giving it its own scratching post, and wipe a cloth onto the cat and onto the scratching post to get its scent on it, and this is a bit annoying but wear different t-shirts to handle them for a while, then they should get along, i haven't used it myself, but heard it works.

  2. mabye but never is to late to make a friendship

  3. Cats are territorial and anytime a newcomer is introduced, the territory needs to be 're-divided'. This takes some time and often includes the current cat acting in ways to re-assert ownership, such as your cat going into this "...frenzy of rubbing up against doorways..."

    It will pass, eventually...

  4. Most likely he will just tolerate other animals for his life. Some animals are like that. He is very much an alpha animal.  You are very lucky that he is not spraying everywhere also.  You might want to clip his nails to help prevent the clawing. (good luck with that one)

Seems to me that if you closed the door to "his room" that he would be forced to interact with the others. If that is truly what you want from him. Be prepared that this could make a fight.

  5. ask ur cat.
