  1. It may happen eventually.  The FCC had hoped that cell phone companies would show major interest in the old analog TV frequencies.  So far this hasn't happened.  In fact there isn't enough bidding to get much revenue from the old channels.

  2. I am receiving/tuning to TV stations broadcasting in digital since last year, 2007. Most stations started their test digital broadcast since last year, and some of them are already broadcasting in HD or HDTV. Infact there are more channels you can tune if you have the digital tuner or the digital converter box, BUT I did not notice significant improvements in the cellphone service. I don't see a relationship between digital HDTV broadcasting and cellphones..They are independent with each other. Cellphones started in early 90's as a very advance means of communication, but at that time there was no breakthough in the TV broadcasting.. And now TV's will switch to digital HD..but I did not hear Cellphone HD..So whatever those rumors, for sure new cellphone models invented every minute.. more features when 2009 comes but same technology, unless officially announced.
