Will my character still be ther eon world of warcraft?

I used to play world of warcraft (probably about a year ago now about the time the first expansion came out) but something happened to my computer and i had to stop playing. I really want to start again and i was wondering if my character would still be on my account. I don't have the game now so is there any way of checking? i really liked my character as he had a really rare name! lol. thank you

It is there until you delete the toon or your account. If you stopped paying they freeze your account which means they won't charge, but they won't delete, cuz they're blizzard, they know you're coming back :)

Yes, your character will always stay on the game no matter long you stop playing.

Your toon should still be there.  You could check the armory, but if he hasn't been logged on since the armory came out it may not show him (has to have been ingame for the data to be captured - doesn't mean he was deleted).

I have never seen Blizzard do a character wipe if inactive toons in WoW(although I believe the do with battlenet accounts on a regular basis), so you should be fine.

Great time to get back into the game!  you can get to 70 before the newest expansion comes out!
