Will my child's red wagon work on the beach? I am wondering if the sand will be too much for the wagon. It is a red plastic radio flyer with flip up seats, purchased from Target two years ago. Have you used this type of wagon on the beach? If so, how did it go? I need to know if I am going to get stuck in the sand with all my stuff. Am leaving in two days, please hurry!

  1. Most likely you will get bogged down almost immediately.

Try a plastic tote (the ones that sell for about $5 in any store) and tie a rope to the handle.

In sand (and snow) you want to spread the load over as much area as possible!

  2. Does he have a toboggan? If he does, put a towel in the bottom (to keep him away from the heat of the sand), and take that... it'll move MUCH easier for you.

The tote suggestion was a great one, too :)

  3. Wheels and sand are not a very good mix, at least not the kind of wheels on red wagons and strollers.  A better bet for hauling stuff even if it sounds strange, is a sled.  The runners will glide over the sand better than wheels will.
