  1. Once you throw a towel over him and put him back in his cage don't let him out anymore until he bonds with you.

  2. look girl dont listen to anybody else but me ok please. Dont try to throw any towells over the poor bird or lock him in the cage. these people dont know what they are talkin about.

Anyway so your cockateil is out thats a good thing meens he feel comfortable to move around and comfortable enough to try to explore other things becide his cage.

Dont try to force him to go back becayse he will go back on his own. when he gets hungry or when he needs some rest. :) Thats what mine do. He Used to go back to take a nap.

And dont worry if he is not tame yet. he will be. They are verry smart and most of all they are social birds. keep approaching him, talk to him and before you know you Two will be best friends.

Good luck with your buddy keep me posted i allways like to hear from people that own birds. dont worry just take things slow:)

  3. If that is the only place to get his food, then yes, he will go back in to eat.

Do not give him any food outside the cage.

  4. If he's new, then no - they are ******* until you get them tame. I would suggest catching him in a tshirt, but make a very distinctive noise first (like ring a bell or hit a wine glass with a fork) before doing it. Feed him after putting him in the cage, and after a while of doing this, he should begin to associate the bell with the food and the cage. Just remember that if you feed him out of the cage, he will assume thats where he should live.

Dont worry about catching him though - they are a LOT tougher than they look, just keep away from the sharp end - my old 'tiel could bite and draw blood through my kevlar gloves.
