My vehicle has custom airbrushed paint. If I were to get in an accident and it was the other persons fault, would it be covered? would the vehicle be painted to match the custom work? would the panel hit be repainted to OEM and then the rest left as custom work, or would the entire vehicle be repainted to return to OEM? Also, what if I was at fault, what would be covered?

  1. It would depend on your insurace level.

If you have full cover, and the paint job is noted on your policy, and the insurance company have agreed to add the value to your car, you would most likely find that they will pay for the repair of the car, then send you a check for the value of the airbrushing. You can then choose to have it redone or to pocket the money.

If you have basic cover, or you arent insured and the other party is at fault, I wouldnt expect to be covered. Most insurance companies will only pay for the car to be put back to stock.

  2. I doubt that the other insurance company would pay but yours might if you claimed the special paint job and they agree to the added value.  You would have to pay  the extra premium though and it will be expensive.

  3. It will if you pay for the extra coverage.  If you just have basic coverage, then no, it won't.
