I am a US citizen and I filed my wife's petition when she was 8 months pregnant with our child.. Will the baby be automatically be added to the petition, or do I file another petition for my daughter? She is now 3 months old. The last letter I recieved is from the National Visa Center "Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fee Bill".. What should I do next for my daughter?

  1. what that the person above me said is in-fact true only that she will not be issued a birth cirtificate that will be issued by the country where she was born...

  2. Are you a US citizen?  If yes, you need to file a Consular Report of Birth Abroad with the US embassy or any US consulate in the country where your wife is at.

After processing it your child will be issued:

    1. a US passport

    2. a certificate of citizenship (Consular Report of Birth Abroad FS-240)

    3. a birth certificate (Certificate of Birth DS-1350)

    4. a Social Security card.
