  1. In WA Engineers are in high demand and almost all employers are recruiting engineers from overseas on 457 visas. They generally pay all your relocation costs.

The WA government has a dedicated website to tell you all about coming here, with links to the jobs, the employers and immigration.

  2. You should have no problem getting a job as an engineer.I was just reading the Irish echo and there are quite a few jobs advertised for Irish engineers.

Feel free to email me if you would like the numbers and email addresses of the companies that are advertising for jobs.

  3. I'm not sure about the 'immigrant' issues for so short a stay but, for a gov. list of jobs in demand, you can look here:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-s...

    'engineering' is pretty vague.

Also, try the "Australia SEEK" career search engine, someone from this site recommended it to me and I've found it very useful!

  4. you will need a work permit or a 12 month working holiday visa (if you qualify)

work permits are hard to get and an employer may not be keen to hire you as you will only be there a short time

with the holiday visa most people get bar work, fruit picking casual stuff like that

  5. Try this niche job site too: lots of job listings that give details about required qualifications and experience.

Contact some of the attractive employers on this site and SEEK, as well as recruitment firms, and ask them whether your degree is sufficient.
