Will my download speeds be faster if i use an ethernet network card instead of the onboard LAN?

  1. no it wont, i have that board, and the onboard lan is as good as you will get without forking out a hefty price for one of the top notch gameing LAN cards.


  2. Actually your download speed is related to your internet connection speed. Faster Internet connection result faster downstream. LAN speed is considered when you work in a home or office Network.  

  3. Your speed will depend on the network switch that you will plug into.  If it is just a 100mbit switch it won't matter if you have a 1 10 100 gigabit card.  Even then if your switch is plugged into a 10 megabit cable modem you get less speed.  You speed is directly related to your slowest networking component and most likely it is your cable or DSL modem.

    Technically it would matter if your network card is a PCI or PCI express.  PCI operates at 33Mhz or 66Mhz.  Not sure about PCI express but I know it is faster.  But now you are dealing with raw computer speed that has little to do with your download speed.

      

  4. It depends on the specs of ur onboard and ur card. If it's a new computer, the onboard would be better probably. But in the long run, it's all the same unless it's really old :)
