Will my dwarf hamsters stay friends?

Question

ok i have 2 dwarf hamsters and they get along fine i was wondering if they will stay friends. ive had them for about 3 months now and they haven't fought once. they sleep together too. everybody on here sais you shouldn't house them together i think mine might be different

It sounds like you've been lucky so far, but in my experience, it was within the first week that my little guys started to fight.  The dominant one would bite the base of the tail of the other one.  When I saw blood in the cage I bought a second cage and kept them apart, but cages next to each other.  I also preferred them alive, rather than fighting and stressed.  Imagine if you were locked in a cage with someone who bit you all the time!??!  No fun...

I had 2 dwarf hamster brothers ( i didn't want the hassle of having to deal with the ongoing litters of a male and female) and everything was fine for about a year, until they reached sexual maturity. then all h**l broke loose. they fought each other bitterly, they are very territorial, lots of blood and i had to get another cage and separate them. i felt bad about it, but i preferred them alive.

they'll get along perfectly fine unless they get separated for a while.

because i first had a male and a female

then they got babies and i had six hamsters

and i seperated them male/female

but one was keep fighting, and i didn't know why

but it was because one was a male instead of a female

and they got babies

so i had a total of 16 hamsters

then i started to give them away

and my friend's hamster, who was brothers with my hamster started to fight

and my hamster killed my friends.

so if they are always in the same cage they're okay. ;)

no unless they r opposite s*x generally male hamster develop a sense of territory and will soon start to show sign. then he will take it out one the other one and can cause the weaker one to get very sick from stress or can fight to the death it is safe to house them separtely to avoid a nasty and avoidable out come. this is why pet stores do no sell hamster together

i think its fine. dwarf hamsters are so sweet! i had one that lived for about 3 or 4 years.

but when they get older they might get a bit more moody. mine did  a tiny bit but not much.
