Question:

Will my feet shrink when I lose the baby weight?

I mean only slightly, half a size. before my second child (and ever since I was 17) my shoe size has been 8.5. Now I still have about 30-40lbs to lose until I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and none of my 8.5 shoes fit at all, I fit a 9 now! During my pregnancy I also had problems with swelling, so I wonder if my feet swelled the extra half size?

Once I lose the 30-40lbs will my feet go back down to their normal size and will my shoes fit again? Is this normal?

  1. erm....i dont think so

  2. NO, they will not go back to the original size.  During pregnancy you release hormones to loosen the tendons in your pelvis, those same hormones cause the tendons to stretch in your feet.  The swelling will go down, but not the size.  I grew a 1/2 size with my 1st baby too.

  3. Hill, my feet swelled so much when I was preg with my son I had to get a size 9 shoe. The only ones that felt comfy where those plastic slip on shoes from Walmart. He is now 2 and I fit back into my shoes. It may take time but you will get back to your shoes. Of course after being in my comfy shoes, I didn't want to wear anything else. I wore mine for so long that I wore the bottoms out and had holes. When I was pregnant with my daughter I didn't swell that bad. I still walk out of the house with my slippers on most of the time too. They also are getting very wore out.

  4. It is normal very normal.  More than likely your feet will shrink back to the 8.5 because the more weigh the more it spreads your feet out and also losing weight will make sure there is less fat on your feet to spread out as well.  I'm sure your feet didn't get any longer,  It's just that you had to get a bigger pair of shoes because your feet are wider now.
