Will my friend get fired from her waitressing job?

Today at work there was an older couple who accused her of making them sit for 25 minutes which was BS and they soon walked out of the restaurant and one of them even left their cane and the management has seen them walking out and they were out talking to them and the manager got on my friend's case for what happened, they were seated for only 10 minutes and my friend claims that they could've called her for attention on when they're gonna take their order, she always does her best to pay attention to her customers.

I have had my friend as my server and I'm always pleased and happy with the service she gives me and me going to the restaurant is how I've met my friend, I've had gone to other restaurants to where I've had to sit over a half an hour just to get my order in.

I really don't want my friend getting fired from her waitressing job and the restaurant won't be the same without her.

  1. she'll prob get a warning. one complaint wont get her fired.

  2. Not over one complaint. If she was getting continuous complains, then maybe. If her service has been usually good, I wouldn't worry about it. Management knows that one complaint is just a glitch.

  3. Regardless of the reason.  This is a management decision.  We all wish to protect our friends.  Perhaps she will get a much better position where she is appreciated by the clientele and management alike.

As a client and a friend, you would certainly receive excellent service, depending on the kitchen.

  4. That depends on how many times she has been in trouble for things.. If this is the first time then I am sure that management will just sit her down and talk to her. I do have to add that even sitting for ten minutes is not good... It really takes little time to take an order and pay attention to the people around you.

  5. 25 mins. is a very long time.  That is unacceptable, however it would depend on how many times this had happened before.  Also what was the circumstances?  Is this person new, did they have to many tables, was another table running them.  The answer is probable no.

  6. if she was going to get fired over that she would been fired right then and there. and maybe someone should talk to the owners and see why they would not take her word over the old people. But i dont think she will be fired over that. that isnot a good reason to fire her.

  7. I would suggest making some phone calls to the restaurant, and talking to the manager and making some positive comments on your  friend's customer service. Or you can put them in witting, that way the manager sees your friend is not so bad like it seems. I wouldn't put down my name or let him know who I am, because if he finds out it's you, he'll automatically know you're doing a favor to your friend and will not buy it.

  8. No one should sit in a restraunt for 10 minutes without being acknowledged....even if just to leave a menu and make every effort to get back to them when they have looked at the menu. Personally, I would fire her if I had more than 2 complaints about her service.

  9. The customer is always right...

  10. I doubt your friend will get fired over one complaint.  Her manager should see her overall performance in the job and won't necessarily be swayed by one incident.

  11. A single complaint does not warrant a termination. She may get an action notice for a warning but unless this is habitual (you said it wasnt like her) then she should be ok.

This couple may have already been in a bad mood or in a hurry to reach their destination.

May not have been your friends fault at all. A responsible/reasonable manager will recognize this and act accordingly.

The hardest thing to remember in our life time is that EVERY person has a different day. We never know what people have gone through before they get to us.

You may have someone sit down that is a new dad, or possibly someone coming from a funeral. You could be assisting someone who just had a car accident or got a speeding ticket. the point is that you never know what is on someones mind or how they might react. Waitressing isnt easy but customer service is everything in your business. Good luck to you and your friend!!
