Question:

Will my friend get jail time?

My friend was drinking and driving and lost control of his truck and crashed into a house. He ran away and left his unconscience friend in the passenger's seat of his truck. The cops finally found him after a while and brought him to the police station. One of his offenses right now is leaving the scene of an accident, obviously a felony. He didn't get charged for a DWI...yet. Maybe he won't, however, his friend had permanent brain damage and broke his arm. Will my friend get jail time? or what do you think will be his consequences? Thanks for your help!

  1. Maybe they'll put him away for good. I sure don't want to meet this guy in a dark alley or on the freeway!

  2. He will probably get A LOT of jail time and rightly so.  he will have to pay restitution, he will be sued, will never be able to get affordable insurance and will have his DL revoked for a very long time.  I, too, hope to never share a highway or back road with this person.

  3. He prob/ will be locked up, God knows if there where people in the house that He may have hurt or wost kill... =(

  4. Unfortunately, all he can get is jail time.....

  5. Either get a good attorney or spend the next 5 years at least in jail plus your friend will need to pay for the damages as well.

  6. yes, he has a few years ahead of him in jail. plus his friend's family might sue him for all hes got

  7. that is up to the judge. In a case like that, leaving the sean of an accident can carry jail time.

If I were the judge I would give you jail time as well as make you pay for all the damage.

  8. sad to say yes

  9. He's got a few years of jail ahead of him. Remind him not to drop the soap for me.

  10. Sounds bad for him. Recommend he get a lawyer ASAP.
