  1. Nope. They need ponds are huge tanks with lots of plants. Good luck trying. They shuldnt be in a bowl in the first place

  2. goldfish do not need ALOT of room, but they need/deserve more than a bowl and need a filter

  3. awww sweetie....don't keep the fish in a bowl, you'll cut their life expectancy for one thing (goldfish can live for like 40 years - provided they have adequate filtration etc...which a bowl can't provide - they're extremely dirty fish!). Also you need like 10-20 gallons of water per fish - they're small now but they can grow to be between 8-10 inches long...and a bowl would get sooo cramped....

Once you've upgraded from bowl to tank...and given them plenty of places to hide, and plants for shelter you can think about breeding. oh...and if it gets to that you may need two tanks...one for the goldfish and one for the babies (keep em together and ma and pa will eat the babies)...but you're a while away yet.

the pet shops say anything to make a sale. my first goldfish - i didn't research it cause i trusted the pet store people. They sold me a 35 litre tank with some gravel and said i could keep up to 6 goldfish in there with no problem. Have since learned that is not true. And then had to pay tons to upgrade to tank that was big enough for them.

if you want to breed your fish you should definiitely get a MUCH bigger tank than the one the fish store sold you...or even a pond!!! but still keep the one you have for fish emergencies (illness...etc...)

  4. fish only breed if they are happy. bowls are not happy places. try rectangle aquarium with gravel, plants and hiding places, also make sure the water is safe,

  5. Fish stores lie to sell fish.

A pair of goldfish need a minimum of 25 US Gallons overfiltered and fully cycled. With view to upgrade as they grow.

In order to breed you either need a large pond or a minimum of a 40 US gallon breeding tank, more than a pair of mature goldfish (they are mature after a year old and should be at least 4"-5" long or larger) plus grow out tanks and tanks for parents. Breeding goldfish requires dedication and should be attempted by those who are in the show circuit, otherwise its like breeding mutt dogs when there are already thousands of mutt dogs without homes.

  6. first of all a bowl is bad for your goldfish its way too small and you need a rectangle fish tank to allow for gas exchange and oxygen, also a filter is really important to keep it clean.

Anyway to get the breed of the goldfish heres a good link - hope it works
