Ive had my hamster for about a week now, and I play with him soo much, like, I play with him 6 times a day, not even lying.

He doesn't seem to mind it..

If I continue playing with him this much, will he become stressed? Or die? or anything?

10 points for answer!

  1. Hamsters are great little pets, aren't they?  Yours will benefit from being handled and he will become more accustomed to you with the handling.  Make sure not to startle him, and keep the play sessions short.  You might have noticed that your new pet sleeps more during the day than at night, so it might be better to adjust your play sessions to when he is awake.  Also, make sure that he gets supplements that are meant for hamsters.  Hamsters seem not to get enough vitamin C in general and can benefit greatly from having their diets supplemented with vitamins that are meant for them.

Good luck to you and your new friend!

  2. no, just be mindful of his mood...if he is tired, then leave him alone. If he sleeping, don't mess with him. Otherwise, playing with him as much as you do won't harm him. The novelty of having a new pet will wear off soon and you probably won't be playing with him as much anyways. Have a good time with him.

  3. He might. Just make sure it is fun for HIM. Try not to handle him as much, becuase this might stress him out. He might be scared because things have changed, he's in a new place and with new people, so just take your friendship slowly.

  4. He will usually let you know if he's pee'd off with you. Don't wake him, as that's not fair on the poor little thing and try not to handle him for longer than 10 minutes at a time. I spend quite a lot of time handling my syrian and she's fine.

  5. well dont go near him if hes sleeping and hamsters are most active around dusk and dawn and sleep alot of the day (to avoid predetors as of their in the wild) allso get sum tunnels and things for him too play with to make it extra fun

  6. no, that is great that you play with him so much! he will be sad if you stop playing with him.

  7. Well a hamster is an animal that needs love. But I think that 6 times a day is a little to much. If your hamster doesnt seem to mind that much than thats okay, but still quite a lot. Try to limit it to 3 times. Your hamster can get stressed from things like that. Also, since he is new he might want a little time to himself. He can get sick of that quick and he might not like it and learn to defend himself and bite. But im sure that wont happen. Just limit how much you play with him and he should be just fine. Just put how he feels first.

  8. I had at 1 time 73 mice 6 sryan hamsters and 5 russian hamsters and 2 gerbils so I know my stuff lol...

No honestly i think hamsters love the attention as long as they arnt disturbed when they r sleepin or on thier weel, eating ect... I had 1 hamster that became so tame she used to climb your arm when you put your amr in her cage then whe used to fall asleep on my lap... she was fab!!

just enjoy her or him, im sure that if they became stressed they would let you know by a a little nip ( I ve had a few)

good luck and enjoy you pet,  x
