My parents keep telling me if I don't go to college this year that I will be dropped from their insurance. They said because if you're on your parents health insurance then you must have to be going to school..Is this true? or is it just a ploy to get me to go to school?

  1. They are being honest.    Many  health plans will stop covering a child at a certain age, unless he a is a full time student.  And verification of full time enrollment must come direct from the college.

  2. True, you must be a full time student, or under 18, or mentally handicapped and under guardianship permanently.

  3. Yes,thats just the normal routine. All insurance companies do that ...stop covering because you are old enough to go out and get a job and be covered by it instead of mommy and daddy doing it on theirs if you arent going to school i think insurances think you are working and can do it yourself.

  4. they are telling the truth. They require the kid to be a full time student in order to receive coverage on your parents insurance policy.

  5. ~~It's true, a child's health insurance coverage stops  when they are 19 unless they are full time students in college or trade school. Proof must be sent in to the health insurance company -usually every six months. Listen to your parents, if you have a chance to go further in your education you want to grab that chance. You'll always regret it if you don't go!~~
