My husband is a truck driver.Unfortunately his driving record doesn't look very good.He has a conviction for passing a red light while driving a small car in Illinois, one conviction for not wearing the seat belt while driving a small car in Illinois, and one conviction for speeding while driving a truck in Ohio. And now it looks like he is gonna get a fourth conviction for speeding while driving the truck in Illinois.

And he has an Oregon driving record.

What is gonna happen to him if the lawyer we hired can't get a deal with the judge and the fourth conviction is gonna go in his driving record???

I am really scared. Please help me!!!!

  1. I hate to say this but you have reason to be concerned.  Based on the incidents you describe, its possible the accumulated points (hard to tell for sure without knowing what his Oregon record was and the time frame), under IL law he may have enough points to get his regular license suspended, let alone the CDL.  It depends on how fast he was speeding and how long it takes for the various states to report all this.

Have your lawyer pull the driving record for the state he is licensed in, go to their web site and look at the point system.  This will tell you how much trouble he might be facing.

  2. he doesnt deserve to drive

he could kill someone or himself

we have those big rigs   fall off of highways here almost daily

your husband needs to learn to drive better or walk

he will lose his license tough luck he better hit the unemployment line and find a job on the bus line he could also face jail time

i dont feel sorry for people who dont learn their lesson and put  my families lives at stake

  3. Sorry, but what you call "stupid comments" are factual observations. There's not much that can be done at this point. Your husband did himself in with his driving record. An attorney may be able to work out a deal so he can keep his license, for now.  but the real reason his driving record doesn't "look" good is because he's a bad driver! Period.

  4. The disadvantage of having a CDL is that violations in your personal vehicle while not behind the wheel of a truck stil counts against your CDL.

The violations have to be "serious" violations.

The passing violation is serious.  The speeders need to be 14 mph and over the limit to be considered serious violations.  The seat belt violation is not a serious violation.

All that said, if he values his job, he should seek counsel and drive a bit better.

  5. I would ask the lawyer what would happen if you can't get a deal.

  6. Look for another job he isn't good at this one.
