I have a juvenile criminal record that is now sealed and just wondering if it will even come up when trying to become a police officer. Anyone have any insight on this?

  1. YES EVEN IF IT IS SEALED YOU MUST TELL THEM. THEY WILL HAVE YOU SIGN A FORM AUTHORIZING THEM TO INVESTIGATE. YOU MUST DISCLOSE THIS TO THEM AND BE HONEST ABOUT IT AS THEY WILL DISQUALIFY YOU AS A CANDIDATE FOR POLICE OFFICER IF YOU DON'T .

  2. short answer: yes your juvenile record will come up and may affect you.

long answer: in the process of being hired, you will have to submit a background packet, which is basically confessing every little thing you have ever done wrong in your life. do not lie, because you will more likely than not be discovered and disqualified. any felony convictions will disqualify you aswell. however your investigator is not stupid and realistically knows stupid kids do stupid things. be honest from the start and lay it all out on the table; make your investigator aware that it was a long time ago you have turned your life around and if you could do things differently YOU WOULD.

    hope this helps, good luck

  3. Yes. That record is sealed to keep it form affecting the outcome of any adult criminal trials you may have.  The police have full access to the records/history, and if you do not disclose the info on a background interview/questionnaire, you will be black balled.

  4. You have to disclose that you have a sealed record.  What is in it will probably become an issue.

  5. Depends on the charge and the time frame after the charge.

  6. when you apply for police officer, hopefully, you will be an adult and no longer a juvenile.
