  1. No, never. Not unless you leave in on carpet or beds etc where the air can't circulate around it. On your lap is fine.

If it does over heat it would indicate a fault.

  2. nope should work for ages but you will need to upgrade parts as time goes on.  As long as you dont drop it, throw it...etc. you should be ok

  3. Maybe, their should be some signs if its about to break, like the hard drive making loud weird sounds, or taking noticeably longer to load up. But if you are not experiencing any problems, you should be ok. Sounds like you got a really good laptop.

  4. Cooling is the most important factor

Most of the newer laptops are durable in terms of handling the excessive use. I use my laptop a lot (like 15+ hours a day) and sometimes I leave it running for couple of days. As long as you let it cool once in a while and provide vent for heat (like a docking station of you are a REALLY heavy user), they will work fine.

My last laptop with heavy usage lasted 3+ years and I bought a new one because I want Dual Core.

    Good luck

  5. No it will  not break. just use the necessary precautions when using your laptop

    1. Always have 1 anti virus and one spy ware running or if you get them together in one package that would be better

    2. Try to to load your laptop over 70% of its memory limit with running apps

    3. Stay clear of shady websites

    4. Try not to fill your hard drive to the max with media/files

    5. Have a laptop case

The reason you should use these steps is because most laptop problems are hardware failures caused by over exhausted hard drive.

Think of the hard drive like you doing a job. If you know you can handle 3 assignments at one time and your boss gives you 25 assignments to do at one time you will do the 25 assignments slower than you would do the 3 assignments. The toll the 25 assignments will take on you cause you to get tired and eventually pass out because you cant handle all the assignments at once, think of your hard drive as the same thing.

So basically you can use it a lot just don't overload the comp with too much apps and data running at the same time.

P.S. cooling fans for laptops also help out.

  6. Make sure that it does not get too hot.  If you think it is going to over-heat, see the computer shop and turn it off.

If it catches fire, put it out with carbon di oxide and not water, it is an electrical fire.

Usually my laptop lasts about 2-3 years from very heavy use.

    Snow Man

  7. everything electronic will eventually fail.

keep the heat sink free of dust and don't ever block the fan and you should be good for years

  8. All computers break eventually, but the more you look after it the longer it will last but usage can also have an impact on the life span of your laptop.

    Hope this helps

  9. It might have some wearing out of the hinges but I think that can be repaired. Other than that...keep it clean.  THnx for the thumbs down...I gave em ups.

  10. if its a dell, or hp... yes.

  11. Just depends on how well you take care of it

  12. I have given my laptop some pretty bad treatment over the past few years, including dropping it on the pavement and scratching the screen with pens, etc.

It has not fallen to pieces, but unless you do laptop testing for a living I seriously do not suggest dropping it, or all that precious coursework could go all the way to computer heaven. ; )

To stop overheating, don't block the fan or otherwise do anything stupid (i.e. putting it in an oven).

Hopefully it will survive your onslaught.

    Thanks.

    Will.

  13. Everything eventually breaks but if you take care of it and maintain your laptop, it should last you long enough before you need to upgrade your laptop due to the regular technology advances.

Keep the operating system light, keep your fans clean, don't drink near the laptop while functioning and you should be ok.

  14. Everything breaks eventually

  15.    .

  16. probably not.  It just means you are using it a lot and it's just something that happens to every computer and laptop.  You can buy a cooling system to cool it down.

  17. eventually

  18. lol... no

Does TV break down if you watch it too much?
