Will my mobile phone work in India?

Question

I'm going on holiday to india next week and wanted to know if I will be able to use my current mobile phone there? I am currently with Orange pay-as-you-go.

Ive also read that it may be easier to buy a new sim card from an indian network once I get there, but would the new indian simcard work in my phone?

you should be able to use your mobile in india contact your orange provider or where you bought your mobile they should be able to advise you how to use your current mobile

I was in India in March and April

evrerybody in my family had no problems using their mobiles

it just costs a bit more

like it cost to recieve textx and double to send them

you can perchase an indian SIM when you are there which is what alot of our friends who we met did they just made sure they had there phone unblocked before they left so any SIM can be used in their phone

this costs arould £10

yeah you will be able to, your phone will automatically find the local provider out there and your sim will just use that signal, in the same way it does so with orange network when your in the UK.

Just to make sure, make sure your phone is TriBand or even betterQuadBand. TriBand means its enabled to be used anywhere in the world except USA, and QuadBand is everywhere in the world!

if your phone is a cdma (meaning no sim)it will convert into reliance network which means it will work but ull have to pay intl roaming,if your phone is a gsm that uses a sim card make sure its 850mhz meaning at least a triband then u can get a local sim card

It may not work if it is not a GSM phone with international capabilities.  You can buy a SIM card in India. Pay as you go phones (refurbished) are also cheap there.  Check with a local company, like DSNL, Airtel, or Reliance. They are located in almost any marketplace.

in India there is no problem u can use ur cell easily
