Will my moon cactus survive on my desk?

I bought a moon cactus and decided that it would be my desk plant at work. I don't want to keep it at home, because there are two curious kittens there who manage to get into everything. :) I don't sit by a window at work, but I could sit it by the window when I leave on the weekends if necessary. I've read that they are grafted cacti and are low maintenance. Some sites say to water every month, others say to water it when you think its dry. Will it live if it only receives flourescent light? I've read that they need light shade. Any advice is welcomed.

NO not with kittens BAD IDEA! the kittens might get injured and trips to the vet can get expensive dont take the chance

Most cactus need warmer weather.  If it gets too cold in your office it may get sick.
