Will my myopia stop (shortsightedness)?

Since I was 12 or 13 my eyesight has changed slightly each year, I am now at -5.00 and it hasnt changed for around 13 months (at least not drastically, since before I used to notice bluryness and had to change prescription).

Have my eyes stabalised yet since I am 20 and does this progressive myopia stop? Thanks

  1. There is no way to tell. Sorry, but your eyes will continuously change as long as they please. They may very well have stopped changing, but there is no way to know for sure. Eyes will generally slow down their changing around the 20's though, but that may not be the case.

I highly highly doubt you will get to -7.00!

  2. No one can tell you that. I am farsighted and just recently it has gotten better. I am 24. So, it can change.

  3. I'm around the same age (21) and my eyes have stopped changing about 2 years ago.  I've read that they usually stop around late teens, early 20s so your eyes should stop changing or change very little for the next couple of years

  4. No, the myopia wouldn't change but it will slow down once u r like 21 years old. The eye shape r 4ever changing hence the degree also.

  5. It is very unlikely for you to cross the -7 measure. Around 20 yrs of age, the dioptre measure stabilises. So no worries!!
