Will my new memory foam mattress get slightly softer over time?

I've just bought a new memory foam mattress, it's very firm so will it get softer over time? I found it quite difficult to sleep on last night. Will I get used to it?

I bought mine in May of this year - I had the same problem but now it is absolutely brilliant.

It took only a couple of weeks of patience & then just kept getting better.
