I just purchased a 2007 Toyota Corolla with tires that are size 195 65 R15. The tires on my 2005 Honda Civic are in better shape except they are sized 195 60 R15. What I am wondering is if I can just swap the two sets of tires?

Will 195 65 R15 fit on a 2005 Honda Civic Coupe?

Will 195 60 R15 fit on a 2007 Toyota Corolla?

  1. The tires will both fit the wheels and the rim widths are correct for both tire sizes. The only down side is the 60 series tires will speed up your speedometer by 2-3 mph @ all speeds. The reason is the RPM of the tires. In tire language that means: Revolutions Per Mile. According to tire sizes: on tirerack.com there will be a difference of 23 revolutions per mile faster with the 60 series tires because of the smaller circumference.

  2. The tires on the Honda are a smaller overall diameter which will make the odometer and speedometer read incorrectly and change your gearing, reducing your fuel economy.  They also have a lower sidewall and a lower load carrying capacity which means you will need to run a higher inflation pressure to compensate.  Both of those things will reduce ride quality.

    I would not recommend this.
