Question:

Will my newborn baby get attached to his babysitter?

By the time my baby is born, I will still have three months of school left before I can take care of him all day besides the hours I'm home from school, until then, a sitter will have to take the responsibility. I'm afraid that by the time I can take over, he will fuss with me due to being used to the sitter handling him. Is this something that even happens and that I should be worried about?

  1. Your baby needs to be attached to the babysitter.  But all babies know the difference from mom and the babysitter. It's just a natural love that even newborns have.  It would be a pretty serious problem if your baby didn't become attached to babysitter.  And never a reason to feel jealous.  Baby knows!!!

  2. He knows you're his mother and will want you to take care of him.  Don't worry..  you'll be fine.

  3. Yes, your baby will bond with the babysitter, but your baby will always love you. Your baby will always accept you as the mother.  You should be happy you found a great woman to care for your baby that will make your child feel comfortable. A week after you are done with school your baby won't even remember the babysitter.

  4. While it's likely that he will get somewhat attached to the babysitter, as long as you're coming home at night and doing a little something with him, I wouldn't really worry about it. After all, he's just going to be 3 months old, and he's not going to remember any of 'that' part of his life, just as you don't remember yours.

I suggest for you just not to worry about it. You'll still be there when he says his first words, takes his first steps, and starts school. He will know who his mom is; don't worry. And good luck :)

  5. yes your child will get attached and that's a good thing.  you want your baby to be able to trust and be comforted by the person taking care of him.  the good news is that babies can be attached to more than one person and having him be attached to the sitter isn't going to mean he's not attached to you.  a baby can be attached to mom, dad, grandma, brothers and sisters, the babysitter... there might be times when he wants one of you while with the other, but that will pass.
