Will my niece forget me?

I'm going to go and work abroad for a year and I am really scared my little niece, Isobel, will forget who I am. She's two and a half at the moment and I see her about three times a week. I'm going to be gone for a third of her entire existance and I am so worried she'll forget her Auntie Tori!

How much do kids that age remember? Will she forget me?

No, as long as her parents keep mentioning you she'll not forget you. Make sure you write to her, send postcards, pictures of yourself & gifts, chat on the phone so she can hear your voice.

You don't need to be there to exist, as long as she hears your name & see's a photo of you she'll remember her special Auntie !

no probably not. My sister in 4 right now and my nana died when she was 1 and a half and she still remembers her vaguely

Its possible that she will, you can't say for sure. But if that is really a concern of yours, you should tape her a few videos with you on there doing some things that you two do together, like read a book to her, or sing a song, she would love that and most definately not forget you. You could also do a few special tapes like for her birthday and Christmas! Just an Idea!

Im sure she will remember you, Especially if you keep in contact which im sure you will, Write to her often (Mummy or Daddy can read it to her) send her little gifts & talk to her on the phone, If you have a internet connection over there and them here, You could use webcam on Msn to keep in contact, That way you will see how she is growing.

My little brother and sister remember our old neighbours from years ago, And they werent even that close, So im sure you wont have a problem with your neice.

Use a web cam and chat to her,

Send her postcards with smiley faces etc

Buy her a photo album and put some photos of you and your niece in it, leaving room for her to put photos that you send from abroad

She won't forget you.

My niece lives a long way away from me and she always knows who I am when I see her.

She is 4 now and I have seen her once or twice a year since she moved when she was 2.

Like someone else said, give her some photos, you can send postcards that can have photos on them (available from Boots), you could also invest in a web cam and talk to her over the internet.

Maybe send her mom pictures of you and ask her to show them to her or something. Even though she is little, maybe send her little stuffed animals or something- not ever week, but maybe every other week or every month. :)

I doubt she will forget you if she sees you that much though :D
