Will my parents credit affect me getting a TS security clearance?

I would like a job with the State Department that requires a TS security clearance. I'm just wondering, will my parents bad credit affect my chances? My parents are going through bankruptcy and their house is being foreclosed.

Thanks for any help

  1. It may, depending upon how long you have been emancipated from your parents.  If you still live with them, yes.  If you left the nest 10 years ago, no.

  2. Do you have financial dealings with your parents?  Do you live with them?  If you do, then their credit will definitely affect you.

If you are an adult living separate from your parents for a number of years, then it should not.
