Question:

Will my plumbing qualifications be recognized in Italy?

I am planning on moving to Italy and want to work there as a plumber. I have the C & G 6129 and the NVQ 6089 which means I'm qualified to work in the UK. However I have less than a years work experience.

Does anybody know what the regulations are for plumbing in Italy and who regulates plumbers. Will I have to retrain over there? If so, how? (college, apprentiships etc?) Or can I walk straight into work with a plumbing company?

Thanks in advance. Despite speaking a little bit of Italian I'm pulling my hair out looking for this info on the net :(

  1. Sorry but i dont think so...in Italy the plumber system is very different from uk plus you have to speak fluent italian plus....is not that easy at the moment to find a job sorry if i disappoint you but...i dont think you can find a job as plumber....probably in some others european country you could have more success...but now is too much hard to find job for everybody here they tent to have very young people to train...and if you are older than 20 is even more hard

  2. English plumbers are the most highly trained in the world, your qualifications are recognised world wide, if you look carefully you will see that they are desperate for English plumbers in Aus, Canada, New Zealand etc.. good luck, partner is a plumber and we have looked into it before

  3. If you're english you can try making a post on this site:

I wish you all the best in your search!(As Patti said this is not the greatest moment to find a job in Italy - anyway there's no harm in trying!) ;D

P.s. I haven't found anything about plumbing regulations in Italy on the web(?!).. I suggest you to find a plumbing company(better if it's english) which has branches in Italy(if there's one!).

    Look at this:

    It's old(2005) but (maybe) useful!
