I am receiving an entry level 5-17 discharge from the army. I am a reservist and I am 17 years old. I had two knee surgeries prior to signing my papers and I received a waiver from meps saying i was ok. My knee couldnt handle the stress... will my reserve unit keep me and send me back to training or will they totally discharge me? at this point i just want to go to college.

  1. Most likely you will be discharged under Medical. Think of what you want to do in the future. If it has physical considerations, you may not be eligible.

  2. That's all going to depend on your MOS, what they could re-train you to do and  just how debilitating your knee problem is.

  3. If your getting a discharge from the Army, wouldn't you no longer be a member of the Reserve Unit? I don't see how you can stay in if the knee won't allow you to make through boot camp.
