My first baby was 9 lb 6.2 oz. The doctor said this baby is likely to be larger (based on her experience).

Can any moms tell me if if this was true for you? Thanks.

  1. Nope, stay away from the sugar!  That's my advice.  My first was 8 lbs 10 oz with a big head, my second seemed tiny at 8 lbs 3.5 oz. and my third was 9 lbs 4 oz. They were all born on their due date too.The boy was the middle weight.

  2. My first was 7 lbs 2 oz , my second was 6 lbs 10 oz, and my third was two weeks early and was 9lbs 4 oz.

So, the second was the smallest by far and I think every pregnancy is just different. Unless you have gestational diabetes I can't imagine why the doc would say this one will probably be bigger. My doc always say every pregnancy is unique.

  3. My first son was 8 lbs. 14 oz. My second son weighed in @ 6 lbs. 4 oz.  I thought that my second child would be bigger. Thank god he wasn't.

  4. Its according to who's genes the baby gets.  I can tell now since my children have gotten older.  My first daughter was 8.5 and she took after her fathers German side.  Second daughter was 7.9, she took after my native American side.  Son was 8 lbs and they made him come 2 weeks early so he would not be a Christmas baby.  So genes seem to have a lot to do with it.  Good Luck and Congratulations.

  5. Women generally tend to make similar sized babies but no one can really tell you for sure.  My first was a boy 8lb 3oz.  My OB told me when I was at the end of my second pregnancy that she would be as big as my first.  My daughter was 7lb 1oz.  Both were carried full term and born one day early than my due date.

  6. I've heard from a few of my friends' moms that usually the first baby is the smallest, so your second probably will be a bit bigger. I was 6lbs 7oz when I was born, and the my younger brother was 9lbs 2oz. So, he was larger.

So, I guess it's not a proven fact yet, but your second baby will probably most likely be a little bigger.

  7. I'm no Mum, but know about these things

    It varies really,

you have no idea of knowing if you will concieve a big baby or small baby.

All change, although, if your capeable of having a large baby it's probably more likely to have larger babies in the future.
