Will my sidekick work in Dominican Republic?

I am going to Dominican Republic in less than 2 weeks. I have a sidekick pre paid plan and I would like to know if my sidekick will work there without getting charged. Will I be able to use my yahoo messenger?

I'm going through the same exact problem. But the short answer is No. I was there in March with my LX and tmobile has no phone service down there. They only have "Orange" which is AT&T and "Claro" which is Verizon. I tried to get my LX unlocked through "claro" and the guy asked to have my phone and come back in 5days. (Like I was really going to leave my phone with him and expect it when I came back!) I'm going back in September and I'm selling my sidekick for another phone that is unlockable like a blackberry so I can just switch sim cards when I'm in the D.R. and U.S. No your yahoo msgr will not work either. You'll have to bring a lap top. Hope everything goes well for you.
