Will my small gap between my bottom teeth be closed with teeth effects bands?

i have a small gap in my two bottom teeth, besides that my teeth are straight. i hate the gap with a passion and wish so badly to get rid of it. i asked my dentist about closing the gap during my last appointment but she was in a rush and said next time. i heard about teeth effects bands before and reasearched them. if i used them, would my 2 bottom teeth also pull away from the rest while coming together? or will the bands just close the bands and thats it?
