Question:

Will my snap pea plants produce again?

Hello. I have a few snap pea vines growing on my balcony which just produced a mere 12 pods in total, and now that the summer heat is really in full force, it doesn't look as though there will be anymore (the flowers are all shiveling up).

My question is, will these same plants produce pods again in the fall as the weather begins to cool, or is that it? I'm in zone 4, if that helps.

  1. You live in a pretty decent zone for growing peas.  I would plant a few seeds every two weeks.  I live in zone 7, and I get peas all summer long.  Just make sure You fertilize the soil.  The flowers do shrivel, this is where the beans will grow.  Also, You could use an umbrella to protect the plants from hot afternoon sun.

  2. No, they are one crop plant. They will die out after they produced.

Pull them out and plant again in late summer to get a fall corp.
