Will my speakers get wrecked if i plug to speakers into the same red and black jack?

I have to speakers (red and black wires) i have a receiver (that allows red and black wires)

but the problem is that i only have 1 black and red slot left on the receiver but have 2 speakers,

if i plug them both in will they short circuit or get wreaked or something?

Thanks, answer ASAP

  1. Not a Big problem you must ensure that your two speakers are going to draw more power from amplifier so it is amplifier which will get wrecked but play cool go soft on volume you can connect both the speakers in parallel ie both red wires of spkrs connected to Red block of Amp and Both black wires of Spkrs connected to Black Slot...Just see the power output of amplifer is not exceeded (otherwise theory says impedance becomes half so amp has to deliver double power and so on..... the thing is so long you maintain volume upto reasonable level about half power nothing will go wrong and who wants to blast the ears off volume in any case)

  2. I wouldn't do it, the unit is not designed to be hooked up that way. Or it would have the jacks to accommodate the extra speakers.

  3. You will change the Ohm load on the amp and probably burn it up. It will sound louder for a while then you'll notice that burning smell about the time the music stops.

Your stereo has an amp built into it. All speakers are driven by SOME kind of amp.

  4. it wont wreak the speakers, But they wont get the same power that they would if they were hooked up separately, Try them both and see how they sound then try just one and see if it sounds cleaner. Having more speakers doesn't always mean it will sound better

  5. The speakers will be absolutely fine. The amp is what you would have to worry about (if anything). Just make sure when you turn it up (as loud as you will usually have it) that it sounds okay... You will be fine....

  6. Your receiver is a tuner/amp combination, so you do have an amp, it's just built into the unit. The key to this whole question is the ohm load of your two speakers vs. what your receiver's minimum and maximum ohm load is. MATH time! If your two speakers are 4 ohm (impedance/resistance) and you connect both to you receiver in the same wire slots you will be "showing" your receiver a 2ohm load (speakers connected in parallel (red to red black to black) will half the ohm load two 4 ohm speakers will become a two ohm load) that's fine IF your receiver is capable of handling a 2 ohm load. Most are not. You can connect them in series which is where you connect one red to one black on the speakers and connect the remaining red and black to your receiver, this will ADD their impedance, meaning two 4 ohm speakers will now "show" the receiver an 8 ohm load which almost all receivers can handle. The key is if you connect them in parallel the amplifier could overheat and burn out. If you connect them in series you should be just fine.
