Will my wages still be garnished when I move to a different state?

My wages are currently being garnished for a repossessed car in the state of Michigan. I plan on moving down south in a couple years and was wondering if the company will still garnish my wages when I find a job. Does it all depend on the laws of the state I move to or does it will it continue to be garnished no matter what the case. Thanks in advance.

  1. yes they can garnished your wages. I own student loan from cali.I wanted to pay only$100 a month but rep to it has to be $150.she turn down my deal.So after 3 month I left my co which means they can't get any money from me b/c i am not working there where they were garanished my wages. Now I live in another state and I get letters from my dad the dame letters that I own them money bla bla bla. They can't touch me now.If they try I will move to another state.I didn't refused to pay I was willing to pay $100 but they turn me down. Why do people have to be mean to other people? They granished my wages for 8 month untill I stop working for that co.I  even told them that I am going to stop working but they didn't care.

  2. well, it looks like the other answerer has avoided further garnishment by moving to another state, so maybe you can too. Just be advised the lender who was garnishing your wages has your social security number and no matter where you go, they can find you (and the above guy, too). And boo hoo, that mean old company wants their money on a car loan that you promised to pay back and now you refuse to honor your promise. Poor poor you, everybody is so mean to you. You may avoid paying for awhile, but interest is accruing every day. Please don't have kids, my feeling is you'd become a deadbeat dad and then cry about how mean the mom is for wanting you to help pay to raise your own kids. Hey, why not join up with the above guy and cry together. Or you can stand up and be a MAN, fer cryin' out loud, and pay your debt that by your own admission, you owe.
