Will my wireless Krammer guitar from Guitar Hero 3 on PS2 work on my PS3?

Ive got GH III for PS2 but with GH World Tour coming soon i wasnt sure whether i should upgrade and get a PS3 Wireless guitar but if my PS2 guitar works then why bother?
