  1. Depending on how the owner has their group set up yes, other people that are not members of the group (if it's a "public" group) may see your Yahoo ID in the membership list or when you send e-mails.  Otherwise only members of the group would see your e-mail address depending on how their subscription is set up.  If it's from the site yes they may see your Yahoo ID.

If the group owner has hidden all the addresses of the members then when going in to the archives to look for messages (if this feature is turned on as well) other members will not be able to contact you.

However, if an e-mail is posted in a message even in spite of the addresses hidden someone might try to e-mail another member depending on whether or not the owner has set up rules to say that members have permission to e-mail each other off list as well.  Some listowners set up rules saying you can't e-mail another member off list without their permission.  This is done to protect against problems with privacy issues and spam.

It just varies from group to group as to what the owner decides as far as running the group when it comes to rules and such.

  2. it depends- when you post, yes members will see if it they go to the homepage

if the members list is open to members, no one will see your e-mail addy past the @, but they will see Yahoo ID and it will be a clickable link

even if the group allows e-mail to be hidden, on the groups archives (when you post) the Yahoo ID still is exposed but in the e-mail area it will show "no_reply@yahoogroups...."
