  1. Are you asking it in the context of the present state of the mountain kingdom?

    It's temporary.

I am aware of the turmoil gripping them.

Even if they don't change it back to it's original state, it will still always have very close ties with India. India and Nepal have always had close relations, and even the maoist rebels are ready for talks with India. In fact their leader recently came to New Delhi and sat across the table with our PM Mr. Singh.

This bonhomie between India and Nepal will always keep Nepal's Hindu character intact no matter whether they keep it in there constitution or not.

Hope this throws some light on your question...

    take care... :)

  2. Although I am a Hindu myself I do not support the Hindu extrimism (like in India). Maybe the parliament too thought the same and on May 18 2006 Nepal was declared a secular country.

In the present context when Nepal is undergoing rapid political changes, the issues of Hinduism is not a major issue. Henceforth only the KING is trying to bring religion into mainstream political ajenda through organisations like Bishwa Hindu Mahasang. However, as the KING is already politically isolated by the people I think there is NO CHANCE of Nepal being a Hindu kingdom once again immidiately.

  3. Nepal has always been "only Hindu" nation in the world. It is gonna be same for long time despite of religious diversity.
