Will non toxic weed killers harm chickens?

i have 4 chickens in my backyard and my dad wants to kno if u use non toxic weed killers such as vinegar, will they be harmful to the chickens? because they do eat alot of grass

  1. You could pull the weeds and put them in the chicken's coop -- they would eat them!  That's how we kill weeds at our house.

    Vinegar would probably be offensive-smelling to chickens and they'd just avoid it.

    Also try pouring boiling water on anthills and weeds.

    Try calling your county extension service (link below if you don't know yours) and asking them if a particular substance is harmful to poultry.  If your dad is an "organic" gardener, you're probably going to be OK!


  2. If something is !non-toxic" this means it is harmless to humans and animals. Weed-killer such as the type you are proposing to use, will not kill grass, and as you say, it is the grass that the chickens eat.....so the answer to your question is ...no

  3. i used to be a farmer   let them run they will eat weeds and other stuff..and scratch the grass n weeds cuz they go for the worms and bugs...
