Yes.

All BluRay players are backwards compatible. It would be foolish of someone to make a player that can only play the ~500 titles out on BluRay right now.

I watch standard DVD's on my player all the time.

Don't know about blur ray, but definitely on blu-ray.

If the player doesn't not claim it has a DVD laser, no. The superposition of blue rays is different and requires a shallower depth of groove than the ones on a DVD disc.
